Privacy Policy
Hati is a local-first bill splitting utility. The core split workflow is designed to work without an account, and Hati does not sell personal data or use it for advertising.
Data kept on your device
Hati stores your local splits, saved people, groups, profile name, payment method notes, Hati AI purchase state, notification settings, and app preferences on your device using Apple platform storage.
Data sent when you choose cloud features
When you create share links, Hati sends the split title, participant names, receipt line items, adjustments, totals, payment status, payment method details you choose to share, participant notes, and uploaded proof images to Hati's cloud service so friends can open the web companion.
Shared links are private by obscurity, not by account login. Anyone with a group or participant link may be able to view the information available on that link.
Hati AI receipt import
Receipt photo import is optional and requires Hati AI. When you use it, Hati compresses the receipt image and sends it to Hati's cloud service to return an editable draft of receipt lines. You review the result before adding it to a split.
The iOS app also sends StoreKit transaction metadata so Hati can verify Hati AI access before receipt import is used.
What Hati does not do
- Hati does not create user accounts.
- Hati does not process, hold, transfer, or settle money.
- Hati does not sell personal data.
- Hati does not use third-party advertising trackers.
Deletion and retention
Local data remains on your device until you delete it or remove the app. Shared split data remains in Hati's cloud service while the share link is active. When an organizer deletes a shared split, Hati removes it from public share views; cloud cleanup may take additional time.
